After five days apart, man finds his dog following wildfire destruction

Palisades Fire: Casey Colvin’s Heartbreaking Loss and Miraculous Reunion with His Dogs.

When the devastating Palisades Fire swept through California on January 7, 2025, the destruction was both swift and merciless.

Homes were engulfed in flames, roads became impassable, and mandatory evacuation orders left residents scrambling to safety.

For Casey Colvin, a local resident, the immediate aftermath was filled with confusion, fear, and a gut-wrenching sense of helplessness.

His home, like many others in the affected neighborhood, was reduced to ashes.

The roads that once provided access were now closed or blocked by emergency responders, and the fire continued to consume the landscape, leaving charred ruins in its wake.

But amid the widespread destruction, Casey’s deepest fear was not the loss of his property—it was the fate of his beloved dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika.

Casey was trapped at work when the fire broke out. As news of the Palisades Fire spread, he frantically tried to make his way back home. Concern for his dogs propelled him forward with urgency.

Unable to use his car due to road closures and blockades, Casey rented a bike in an attempt to reach his home faster, pedaling through the smoky chaos, heart racing with anxiety.

Five hours later, he arrived at the neighborhood only to find emergency crews blocking access to the area. The roads were impassable, and the smoke and flames made any approach dangerous.

His home was unreachable, and the fate of Oreo and Tika Tika Tika remained unknown. The uncertainty was agonizing.

That was when Cal Fire battalion chief Brent Pascua intervened. Known for his courage and dedication, Pascua didn’t hesitate for a second.

Assessing the situation and understanding the urgency, he pushed into the burning structure, navigating smoke-filled hallways and searing heat. The bravery required to enter a home fully engulfed in flames cannot be overstated.

Pascua managed to rescue Tika Tika Tika, Casey’s other dog, but Oreo, the small blonde Pomeranian, was missing.

The fire’s relentless advance and the chaos of the surrounding neighborhood left Casey devastated, clinging to the hope that somehow, his little dog had survived the inferno. For five agonizing days, Casey combed through the wreckage of his destroyed property, searching for any sign of Oreo. Neighbors and volunteers joined in the search, scanning debris, calling out Oreo’s name, and leaving food and water in hopes that the dog might return.
